Each year, in the days around Sept. 1, Boston sends out dozens of inspectors and code enforcement officers who keep an eye out for problems and talk with students moving into apartment through the City. According to data from the Department of Public Works, 1,692 tickets were written to property owners in Brighton and Allston last year (2015) between August 28 and September 2. Please note, fines for excessive trash or other property violations during move-in/out are to be paid by the landlord or property manager of the address cited on the violation. If your landlord requests or instructs you to pay the fine, kindly notify them that it is their responsibility, not yours, to pay the ticket.
